In early January, Ghani Consulting invited Freeway Phoenix to help support and gather ecosystem members to welcome the Dubai Tech Delegation, with the support of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Arizona Commerce Authority, City of Phoenix, OXY.co, Center of Entrepreneurial Innovation, Venture Café Phoenix, AZ-VC, Vensure Employer Solutions, Arizona State University, Venture Madness, J.P. Morgan, Salt River Project, Idea Lab AZ, and AZ Board of Regents.
The esteemed visitors were comprised of members from the largest technology conference in the world called GITEX Global - Expand North Star, the Dubai World Trade Centre. Dubai Tech Delegation representatives also included members from the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy (DCDE).
The delegates are touring several cities in the United States to find the ideal market for their U.S. expansion, and Phoenix is on their must-visit list.
At Freeway, we know that Phoenix is on pace to become the fastest-growing interior technology market. That's why we were thrilled to see our vision recognized by our visitors and new friends from DWTC and DCDE. Not only did the delegates recognize Phoenix as a desert community passionate about technological advancement—much like their home metropolis of Dubai—but they also appreciated Phoenix's inherent sports and entertainment culture.
"They don’t do sports entertainment like this in Dubai," commented one of the delegates. It's a meaningful compliment from a resident of a nation that hosts the Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament and is home to the UAE Pro Soccer League.
The delegates' visit was capped by the Arizona Dubai Pitch Competition hosted at our ecosystem partner, VensureHR's office.
The competition winner has earned a trip to showcase at GITEX Global’s - Expand North Star in Dubai this October.
Ghani Consulting helped host the competition in partnership with Venture Café Phoenix, the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation (CEI), StartupAZ, Oxy, the Arizona Commerce Authority, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), and Freeway. The virtual Pitch Competition was exclusively for Arizona-based startups. It offered innovative startups the unique opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges from Arizona State University, Thunderbird School of Business, and a highly esteemed thought leader.
The pitch competition is part of the Dubai Tech Experience, an initiative designed to promote cross-cultural exchange, showcase emerging technologies, and create opportunities for collaboration between businesses and innovators in the United States and Dubai, UAE.
The Dubai Tech Experience includes a U.S. Startup Pavilion, a groundbreaking initiative designed to highlight the best and brightest U.S. startups on an international stage. The Pavilion is a hub for networking, knowledge sharing, and business opportunities, showcasing the innovation and entrepreneurship that define the U.S. tech ecosystem.
We are thrilled to see Phoenix and the surrounding Valley earn recognition on the international stage as a vital technology startup market. Over the past decade, Arizona has rapidly become a hotspot for startup activity, with a vibrant ecosystem that supports innovation and growth.
Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy and Dubai World Trade Center are collaborating strategically to achieve their shared vision of positioning Dubai as a global tech and innovation hub. Together, their efforts in this Roadshow focus on:
