We are thrilled to share big news from our partners at The Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC).
The organization recently announced the opening of applications for XLR8 PBC, an intensive eight-day in-person program tailored for scale-ready health tech companies. It will take place in Phoenix from April 8 to 17, 2025. XLR8 PBC aims to help participants secure the right capital, connect with experienced growth-stage executives, and forge corporate partnerships that validate market fit.
XLR8 PBC focuses on scaling health tech companies from various sectors, including virtual care, digital health, payor tech, provider tech, medical devices, and health and wellness, ensuring participants are well-positioned for growth. Startup leaders will also have access to innovative collaboration spaces, student analysts, and a supportive ecosystem designed to enhance their growth potential while at XLR8 PBC.
Phoenix’s biomedical sector is hot and growing rapidly. Our biomedical innovation hubs offer convenient access to major specialized clinical partners, world-renowned scientific collaborators, top-ranked institutes of research excellence, research hospitals, universities, and medical schools.
As a core component of Phoenix’s biomedical sector, the PBC is a 30-acre life sciences innovation district in downtown Phoenix. It hosts Arizona’s three public research universities — Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona — and leading genomics pioneers like the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), part of the City of Hope, and the International Genomics Consortium.
The PBC also collaborates with major healthcare systems, including Banner Health, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dignity Health, HonorHealth, Phoenix VA, and Valleywise Health, as well as a growing number of emerging life science companies. This unique concentration of research scientists and healthcare professionals fosters unprecedented collaborations, advancing precision medicine from discovery to delivery.
“XLR8 PBC is a unique program that addresses a critical gap in Arizona and the region,” said Brian Ellerman, Executive Director of XLR8 PBC. “We created this program to support and boost the success of scale-ready companies, offering them the unique resources and connections they need to thrive in the competitive health tech industry.”
As an ecosystem partner committed to helping accelerate technology startup growth in Phoenix, we are thrilled about the launch of XLR8 PBC and the collaborative benefits and opportunities this unique opportunity will bring to our community.
